Job Summary
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating payroll processes to ensure timely and accurate payment of wages and salaries. This role supervises a team of payroll specialists, maintains compliance with all applicable regulations, and contributes to process improvements. The Payroll Supervisor serves as a key point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and supports internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and guide the payroll team to ensure proper processing of payroll cycles.
- Ensure accuracy of payroll data, including salaries, benefits, taxes, and deductions.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
- Oversee preparation and submission of payroll reports and filings.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries in a timely manner.
- Work closely with HR and finance departments regarding payroll processes and policies.
- Support internal and external payroll audits by providing necessary information and reports.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and best practices.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and system enhancements.
- Train and develop payroll staff, providing performance feedback as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of applicable payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in payroll software (such as ADP, Paychex, SAP, or similar systems).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
- Payroll certification (such as CPP Certified Payroll Professional, or FPC Fundamental Payroll Certification).
- Prior experience implementing or optimizing payroll systems.
- Experience in multi-state or international payroll processing.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
