Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy construction organization in Knoxville, Tennessee. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a deadline-driven setting, takes pride in precise financial work, and can confidently manage payables with minimal oversight. The role centers on maintaining accurate invoice processing, supporting timely payments, and keeping vendor and expense documentation organized.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the full accounts payable cycle by reviewing, coding, and entering a large volume of invoices with a high degree of accuracy.

- Process employee reimbursement requests and confirm that supporting documentation and approvals are complete before payment.

- Administer corporate card transactions, including payment processing and reconciliation of related records.

- Maintain current vendor information and respond to routine vendor inquiries in a timely and attentive manner.

- Investigate billing issues, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding items to keep payments on schedule.

- Coordinate timely disbursement of approved invoices while ensuring compliance with internal procedures.

- Use Viewpoint and Microsoft Office applications to record transactions, monitor invoice status, and prepare basic reporting.

- Operate as the primary accounts payable contact, managing daily workflow independently and keeping records well organized. Requirements - At least 3 years of recent accounts payable experience, ideally within the construction industry.

- Demonstrated success handling high-volume invoice processing in a manual or detail-intensive environment.

- Practical experience managing employee expense reimbursements and corporate credit card activity.

- Familiarity with Viewpoint is strongly preferred.

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

- Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy and completion of follow-up tasks.

- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and maintain organization in a fast-paced setting.
