Job Description
- Manage daily construction activities for high-voltage substation and transmission projects ranging from 69kV-500kV
- Oversee site safety, quality control, scheduling, and field execution activities
- Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, engineering teams, inspectors, and client representatives
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, utility standards, and OSHA regulations
- Lead construction meetings, progress reporting, and project planning discussions
- Review construction drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Monitor project schedule, manpower, production, and construction costs
- Identify and resolve field issues to minimize delays and maintain project progress
- Support transmission line construction activities including foundations, structures, conductor installation, and commissioning
- Support substation construction activities including foundations, steel erection, bus work, breakers, transformers, relay/control buildings, and equipment installation
- Assist with commissioning, energization, punch list, and project closeout activities
The Successful Applicant
A successful Construction Manager - Substation & Transmission should have:
- 4+ years of construction management experience supporting transmission and/or substation projects
- Experience managing utility, power delivery, or EPC construction projects
- Knowledge of high-voltage electrical infrastructure construction practices
- Experience supporting projects within the 69kV-500kV range preferred
- Strong understanding of OSHA and construction safety standards
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the U.S.
- Competitive hourly pay ranging from $90 to $100, based on experience.
