Merit Construction, Inc. is an award‑winning Knoxville based General Construction firm with more than 40 years of experience. We currently have a full‑time opening for an Assistant Project Manager. The position is predominantly based in the field.
Responsibilities- Preconstruction – Work with the project team to prepare for the project start‑up.
- QAQC – Perform on‑site quality control reviews and ensure adherence to project specifications, using the most up‑to‑date drawings, specs, addenda, and standards.
- Schedule – Order materials, develop and maintain the project schedule, monitor production, complete reporting, and manage the work of assigned subcontractors and suppliers.
- Close Out – Organize and complete close‑out activities, including punch lists, warranty issue resolution, O&M manuals, and as‑built drawings.
- Project Documentation – Verify accurate payment of subcontractors and suppliers, maintain submittal logs, track RFIs, gather dispute and change‑order documentation, photograph the site, prepare status reports, conduct constructability reviews, and produce quantity takeoffs.
- Project Meetings – Take meeting notes, prepare and distribute minutes, and attend all superintendent and project management meetings.
- Safety – Demonstrate, communicate, and reinforce company safety policies and procedures, ensuring records are accurately maintained.
- Preferred bachelor’s degree from an accredited construction or civil engineering program.
- Minimum two years of related experience.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word; knowledge of project management and scheduling software is helpful.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and office staff.
- Ability to plan and organize work effectively, analyze problems, propose reasonable solutions, make logical decisions, and follow up with appropriate feedback.
