Angela Floyd School for Dance and Music, LLC is the largest dance and music school in Knoxville, established in 1997. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality education, offering a variety of classes in dance styles such as tap, classical ballet, jazz, and hip hop, as well as a wide range of music lessons.
We have 2 locations in the Knoxville, Tennessee area. Our school serves over 700 students, with 90% between 2 and 16 years old.
We realize that most of our students will not become professional musicians or dancers. We strive to provide a fun but educational environment with well‑organized administration and first‑rate equipment and facilities.
SummaryAs a Dance Instructor at Angela Floyd School for Dance and Music, LLC, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate students of all ages in various dance forms. This role is essential to our mission of fostering a love for dance while providing high‑quality instruction that promotes both skill development and personal growth.
Responsibilities- Design and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to various age groups and skill levels.
- Teach a variety of dance styles while ensuring proper technique and safety.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
- Create a positive learning environment that encourages creativity and self‑expression.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to foster a respectful atmosphere.
- Collaborate with other instructors to develop performance opportunities for students.
- Participate in school events, including recitals and showcases, to promote student achievements.
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons to students in accordance with the curriculum.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning atmosphere.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and enhance the curriculum.
- Utilize various teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles.
- Incorporate technology into lessons to enhance student engagement and learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Proven experience in dance instruction with a strong background in childhood development.
- Ability to create lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.
- Strong behavior management skills to maintain an effective learning environment.
- Experience working with students across different age groups, including preschool and adults.
- Knowledge of special education practices is a plus but not required.
- Strong knowledge and passion for the subject area, Dance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage student behavior and maintain a positive classroom environment.
- Knowledge of curriculum development principles and practices we provide during training.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- A degree in dance is a plus, but advanced level training in a regional or professional dance company, university company, competition performance experience and/or teaching experience is needed.

In person. - Full‑time administrative support during class times.
- Student assistant provided for large class enrollment.
- Floating Marley dance floors in all studios.
- Extras such as fee collection and costume measuring handled by full‑time administrative staff.
- You will be paid on time every two weeks by auto deposit; hourly rate based on teaching experience.

Job Types: Part‑time, Contract.
Pay: $18.00 – $30.00 per hour based on experience.
Teaching times are available between 8:30 am – 9:30 pm Monday – Friday and Saturday 8:30 am–2:00 pm.
This is a contract position, for July 28, 2025 – June 1, 2026 with an option to extend the contract. Training can start as soon as you are hired with the option to start subbing immediately and be on the schedule for June/July 2026 as well.
