Job Objective

This faculty position supports the Mechanical Engineering Technology program by delivering high-quality instruction, laboratory experiences, and instructional materials that promote student learning and achievement of established outcomes. The role emphasizes curriculum development and continuous improvement aligned with industry standards; active participation in professional development, institutional service, and program assessment; collaboration with faculty, staff, industry partners, and advisory boards; engagement in accreditation and grant‑related activities;

support for student access and workforce development; shared responsibility for the operation and upkeep of classrooms, laboratories, and equipment; and active involvement in student recruitment and community outreach in support of the College’s mission.

Essential Job Functions
  • 50%:
    Create instructional materials and laboratory experiences and teach courses at a variety of times in response to institutional needs, evaluate students’ progress toward achievement of stated student learning outcomes and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course, contribute to management of labs and equipment, develop or update course syllabi for courses within the college guideline and curriculum as necessary to remain current with the industry, review, evaluate, and recommend student learning materials.
  • 20%:
    Responsible for professional development and institutional service as determined in consultation with the Department Head. Work with other faculty, staff, and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve the Mechanical Engineering Technology program. Duties include developing new course materials or courses as required to maintain program currency in emerging technologies in the field of Mechanical Engineering Technology and the development of coursework associated with it;

    completing assessment requirements relative to the program; engaging members of an active advisory board; participating in evaluating and preparing articulation agreements and prior learning assessments.
  • 10%:
    Provide access to students through posted office hours, electronic communication and other appropriate methods, serve on internal and external committees for the College and the community k with Workforce and Community Development department to develop workforce solutions within the area of Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 10%:
    Involvement in assessment and ATMAE accreditation process, writing grant proposals related to program goals and objectives as well as participating in grant activities.
  • 5%:
    Share responsibility for day‑to‑day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms, labs, and equipment. Perform related duties as assigned.
  • 5%:
    Recruitment of new students. Along with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Faculty Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or a closely‑related area from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college level.
  • Part‑time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full‑time work experience.
