Work with regional, county, state Extension staff, and other personnel that are a part of the Southeast Dairy Business Innovation Initiative (SDBII) to provide support to dairy producers across 12 Southeast states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia). This position will cooperate with SDBII personnel in planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, reporting SBDII activities surrounding dairy farm and financial management, dairy economics, and dairy marketing.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Deliver programs through workshops, meetings, seminars, farm and office visits, direct counseling with dairy farm families and dairy businesses.
- Teach dairy‑related business planning, decision‑making, marketing, and feasibility analysis.
- Collect dairy farm financial documents for the Dairy Gauge Program (annually) from the SDBII states.
- Aid in development and use of a Value‑added Dairy Gauge.
- Utilize economic outlook meetings, mass media, and other appropriate teaching methods in the delivery of educational programs.
- Maintain a close working relationships with Regional and State Dairy Programs and Associations.
- Accurately report program accomplishments and impacts into the UT Extension reporting system in a timely fashion.
- Provide leadership for a program of activities that meets the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion or veteran status.
- Assume other duties as assigned.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field
- Master's degree in Agricultural Economics or a closely related field
- Preference will be given to applicants with experience in agricultural economics, dairy farm management, or related field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field
