Successful candidates will be expected to develop an innovative,nationally recognized, and externally funded research program that uses bioinformatics, computation, and/or modeling to address questions at the cutting edge of genomics, molecular, cellular, or systems biology. We are particularly interested in applicants that build on emerging areas in BCMB ( (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). ), including nucleus organization, epigenetics, and gene regulation. The BCMB department spans many sub-disciplines, with existing areas of strength in molecular genetics, biophysics, and biochemistry, as well as cell, neuro-, cancer, and plant biology.

BCMB is a dynamic, interdisciplinary, and collegial department. In order to best support these priorities and business needs, the anticipated start date for this role is August 1, 2027 . This position offers office and dry-lab research space in the modern Ken and Blaire Mossman Building, which houses high-level research and instructional space. Shared high-performance computing resources and data storage solutions are available through the university.

While no wet lab facilities will be dedicated to this hire, extensive opportunities exist for collaboration with experimental colleagues who use shared, next generation sequencing, microscopy, and bioanalytical facilities.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in communities of scholars in membrane biology and inflammation, and a convergent research initiative in targeted radiotherapeutics. Interactions with nearby Oak Ridge National Lab are fostered by the UT-Oak Ridge Innovation Institute, including a graduate program in Genome Science and Technology. BCMB faculty also collaborate with colleagues at the UT Ag-Vet campus, the UT Medical Center, and the National Institute for Modeling Biological Systems.

Applicants must have a doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) and postdoctoral experience in an appropriate discipline with evidence of high-quality research. The successful candidate will also show potential to contribute to teaching within the core departmental curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching experience and experience applying for external funding are preferred.
