Director of Youth Discipleship

Director of Youth Discipleship Description The  Director of Youth Discipleship Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, developing, and leading Sacred Heart Cathedral's Youth Discipleship faith formation program. Under the supervision of the Associate Pastor of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, the Director will oversee the Sunday evening faith formation program for high-school teens and coordinate various high-school discipleship small groups throughout the week.

The Director will also implement and oversee the Confirmation program with an emphasis on lifelong faith formation and  addition, the Director will develop the faith formation program for middle-school students that will provide a seamless transition into the high-school Youth Discipleship program.
** RESPONSIBILITIES:*
* • Develops the master schedule of the year's Youth Discipleship sessions on Sunday evenings
• Forms and supervises Core Leadership Team (teens and adults) for Youth Discipleship program
• Guides Core Leadership Team to identify appropriate themes for Sunday evening programs, establish topics for group presentation, and select appropriate presenters
• Guides Core Leadership Team to prepare small group discussion questions based on evening theme and topic of group presentation
• Provides guidance and selects appropriate music for the theme and topic of the evening
• Promotes formation of Bible study and faith sharing small groups that meet throughout the week by identifying, training, and empowering small group facilitators
• Develops intentional relational ministry with all high-school teens in the parish
• Works with Cathedral facilities staff to ensure that adequate space and equipment are provided, and is responsible for set-up and take-down of facilities for Sunday evening program
• Plans and promotes ongoing development and training of Core Leadership Team members
• Demonstrates excellent organization and record-keeping skills
• Conducts effective parent communications, with special attention to notification of evening theme, topics, and discussion questions for parent/teen discussion at home
• Promotes Youth Discipleship program to all high-school teens in the parish, and establishes relationship with Campus Minister at KCHS to promote Youth Discipleship program
• Develops awareness of Youth Discipleship program with SHCS teachers and staff
• Other duties as assigned by Pastor and/or Adult Faith Formation Director

* QUALIFICATIONS:

** The Coordinator shall be an active, practicing Catholic who also possesses:
• Strong personal faith in Christ and commitment to the Catholic Church
• Enthusiasm, passion, and vision for youth ministry here at Sacred Heart Cathedral
• Rapport with high-school age group•
• Understanding of adolescent developmental stages and knowledgeable of challenges and concerns facing youth today, with a willingness to learn from the youth served
• Prior youth ministry experience
• Demonstrable leadership qualities
• Flexibility, independent work skills, and organization
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in technology and social media
• Completion of CMG training
