Aerostar SES, LLC is expanding its workforce and is seeking a Senior Field Geologist / Field Manager to join our growing Environmental Business Line. This leadership role will direct a large, complex environmental investigation at K. I. Sawyer in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, followed by a transition to our Knoxville, Tennessee office to support reporting and ongoing project work.

The initial assignment is expected to be a six-month, field-intensive deployment beginning mid-April 2026. The selected candidate will oversee simultaneous field operations, including multiple drilling crews, well installation activities, and multi-media environmental sampling programs. This role requires a highly experienced professional capable of managing dynamic field conditions, making real-time technical decisions, and ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Field Leadership & Operations
  • Serve as on-site Field Manager overseeing all investigation activities.
  • Direct daily field operations, including scheduling, logistics, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Manage and mentor multidisciplinary field teams, including geologists, technicians, drilling crews, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate multiple drill rigs and concurrent sampling programs (groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, and vapor).
  • Oversee well installation, environmental monitoring, and remediation field activities.
Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure compliance with work plans, health and safety requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide real-time problem solving and adapt field strategies to changing site conditions.
  • Implement and enforce QA/QC procedures for all field activities.
  • Maintain and review accurate field documentation, including logs, sampling records, and daily reports.
Communication & Coordination
  • Serve as primary field liaison with project managers, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
  • Provide clear and regular progress updates and field status reporting.
  • Coordinate site access with installation personnel and private property owners as needed.
Post-Field Responsibilities
  • Transition to the Knoxville office following field deployment.
  • Support data interpretation, technical reporting, and project documentation.
  • Assist with planning and execution of subsequent project phases.
Work Schedule & Travel
  • Field schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off rotation
  • Extensive travel required during field operations
  • Per diem and travel support provided
  • Field deployment: approximately 6 months (April through October 2026), intermittent 10-day field efforts in 2027.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Geologist (PG) license, or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive field experience on complex environmental projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership managing field teams and subcontractors.
  • Advanced knowledge of drilling methods, environmental sampling, well installation, and remediation technologies.
  • Proven ability to make independent technical decisions in dynamic field environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER with up-to-date refresher.

OSHA 8‑hour Supervisor Training. Ability to travel extensively (up to 80–90%) and work outdoors in varied conditions.
