You will have the chance to contribute to active customer projects under the guidance of experienced engineers and project managers.
This position is ideal for a student pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering who wants practical experience in design workflows, technical documentation, and cross functional project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Technical Documentation
* Support the electrical design process for custom control panels and enclosures.
* Create and maintain detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
* Help develop project deliverables like Functional Design Specifications (FDS), control module lists, and I/O lists.
* Assist with network architecture documentation for industrial control systems.
* Track action items, drawing revisions, and documentation updates throughout the project lifecycle.
Systems Integration and Programming
* Gain exposure to integration engineering activities and system implementation.
* Support HMI graphics development and basic programming across various platforms based on project scope and skill level.
* Coordinate with our UL 508A panel shop to ensure design intent aligns with physical fabrication.
Professional Collaboration
* Participate in team meetings with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders.
* Learn the full lifecycle of an engineered solution from initial design to final integration.
* Work in a fast paced environment where priorities shift based on real time project needs.
Physical and Work Requirements
* Computer Work:
Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a workstation.
* Manual Tasks:
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, computer navigation, and handling small components.
* Visual Work:
Ability to read complex technical drawings, digital documents, and computer screens for extended periods.
* Communication:
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written email.
* Mobility:
Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching in both office and shop environments.
* Lifting:
May occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds, such as laptops, drawing sets, or small hardware.
* Shop Exposure:
Ability to safely enter and observe work in production or panel shop areas while following all PPE and safety training protocols.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for curious, detail oriented individuals who are comfortable asking questions and taking direction. Ideal candidates are currently pursuing a degree in:
* Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
* Mechatronics or Computer Engineering.
* Mechanical Engineering with a strong interest in controls.
Basic familiarity with electrical schematics, Google Workspace (Sheets and Docs), and Excel is required. Any experience with CAD or controls software is considered a significant plus.
What This Internship Offers
* Direct mentorship from senior engineers and technical directors.
* Practical understanding of standards driven work environments, including UL 508A support.
* A professional environment built on technical excellence and servant leadership.
* Experience working on actual customer solutions rather than simulated projects.
