Boston Government Services (BGS) is seeking a Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Test Engineer to support our clients at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
About the Role
CSU Test Engineer reports to the CSU Director/Manager within the Project Management organization, providing expertise, training, and consultative support for CSU activities. The role involves testing planning, quality control, and environmental safety, and requires overtime, weekend, and night shift support.
Responsibilities- Support commissioning and startup duties, including installation configuration validation, test planning, and document development.
- Schedule and assist in planning CSU execution activities, determining sequence and resource requirements for assigned projects.
- Prepare equipment test records and pre‑operation testing binders.
- Participate in construction activities and CSU turnover walkdowns.
- Coordinate with construction field engineers to support component/system turnover.
- Initiate and track punch lists developed during testing.
- Perform and monitor equipment testing to ensure conformance with requirements and compliance with test procedures.
- Ensure work is completed safely and meets schedule and cost objectives.
- Demonstrate experience with Y‑12 procedures, programs, and processes.
- Possess previous experience as a CSU test engineer.
- Have in‑depth knowledge of NFPA‑70e.
- Have experience with commercial or Department of Energy practices, including NQA‑1 requirements and operational readiness reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (Chemistry, Physics, or related), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., B.S. degree in engineering or related scientific major; 2‑year job‑related experience and 1‑year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
- Desired U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of current clearance status.
- Fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
- Full‑time schedule, Monday – Friday, 40‑hour week.
