Senior Electrical Engineer

Geosyntec offers a senior electrical engineering role focused on water and wastewater treatment design, pilot‑scale testing, startup and commissioning, and construction support across industrial and municipal sectors. The position requires U.S. citizenship due to government contract compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Lead technical projects and provide mentorship to staff.
- Apply experience and problem‑solving skills to develop and review technical approaches and detailed power designs.
- Design and develop electrical systems following NFPA, NESC, and IEEE guidelines.
- Perform electrical design calculations, including load flow analysis, short circuit studies, and protective device coordination.
- Read, interpret, and develop P&IDs.
- Prepare and update technical documentation and drawings—single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, lighting, grounding, equipment specifications, hazardous area classifications, utility service requests, construction specifications.
- Conduct site surveys and inspections to assess installation and operation of electrical and control systems.
- Scope, schedule, and budget requirements for electrical design of projects, including labor, material, or construction cost estimation.
- Represent the company at client, regulatory, and stakeholder meetings.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor early‑ and mid‑career staff and designers.
- Manage multiple concurrent project assignments, ensuring deliverable quality and deadlines.
- Support business development, lead generation, staff development, and mentoring activities.
- Travel to client or company sites and other business locations as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution (required).
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration (preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, 10+ years preferred, focused on design, construction, and operation of process engineering projects.
- Strong background with industrial equipment, electrical motors and VFDs, power distribution, building services and wiring, and process controls/automation.
- Working knowledge of codes such as NFPA, IEEE, and federal or state regulations.
- Experience developing Electrical Safety and Arc Flash Hazard analyses and associated documentation (preferred).
- Excellent leadership and detail‑orientation skills.
- Direct consulting experience in water, wastewater, industrial, or environmental sectors.
- Ability to handle multiple project assignments, meet strict deadlines, and travel to client facilities as required.
- OSHA 40‑hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and drug/background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel.
- Only U.S. citizens are permitted to work on this federal client project; U.S. permanent residents and visa holders do not qualify.
