Environmental Engineer - Water Services Group

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Environmental Engineer with a focus on water and wastewater systems to join our dynamic team. This position can be based at any of our Tennessee offices. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment solutions that help safeguard natural resources and ensure sustainable water management practices.

With a solid foundation in environmental engineering principles, you will collaborate on a variety of challenging projects aimed at improving water quality, enhancing system efficiency, and addressing regulatory compliance.

• Create water and wastewater treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, solid waste facilities, etc., and develop engineering designs to meet client project requirements.
• Review draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations and sign off on completed designs.
• Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs.
• Perform site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Update design requirements as necessary.
• Perform water quality analyses and modeling.
• Contribute to the firm’s technical knowledge base by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs and studies. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to client requests for proposal (RFPs). Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentor junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm. May supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; the frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Travel required:

• Expert knowledge of computer‑assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
