Structural Engineer

Knoxville, TN

Mesa Associates, Inc. is seeking a Structural Engineer to work with other members of the civil & structural team to deliver projects of varying complexity and size for our fossil and hydropower generating clients.

• Design additions and modifications to power generation related structural systems.
• Perform structural calculations, developing design criteria and ensuring adequate design capacity using software packages such as STAAD.Pro, STAAD Foundation, RAM Connection, spMats, sp Column, LPILE, SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, Mathcad, Excel, ENERCALC.
• Design structural steel components including pipe bridges, pipe and cable tray supports, equipment support structures, elevated platforms, steel buildings.
• Prepare drawing packages in AutoCAD and/or Micro Station, Plant 3D.

• Well organized and self-motivated to complete tasks within agreed schedules.
• Creative thinker capable of judging alternate solutions to provide the optimal solution.
• Available to work overtime when necessary to meet project schedules.
• Available to travel out of town for project meetings and site visits.
• Safety conscious and will strictly adhere to company and client safety standards.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering.

Master's degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field.

5 years of experience in structural engineering for power generation projects.

• Professional Engineer (PE) – required.
• Any additional relevant licenses – preferred.
