Responsibilities Field Engineering & Project Execution
- Provide technical and commercial inputs regarding management of subcontracts and prime contract.
- Coordinate work processes, interface with other departments, external contractors, and resources such as project team members.
- Provide technical support to field crews, ensuring accurate interpretation of drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Oversee layout, surveying, and grade control to maintain project accuracy.
- Help manage and implement construction methodologies and best practices in collaboration with the superintendent and project team.
- Conduct field inspections to ensure work meets Shimmick's quality standards and project specifications.
- Work with the Quality Control team to document and resolve non-conformances.
- Assist in safety audits and enforce compliance with OSHA and Shimmick safety policies.
- Promote a safety-first culture by proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules.
- Track material quantities, labor hours, and equipment utilization to support cost control efforts.
- Identify and help resolve potential project delays or budget overruns.
- Work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and design teams to facilitate smooth execution.
- Prepare and track RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, daily reports, and as-built documentation.
- Participate in daily and weekly construction meetings to discuss project progress and challenges.
- Serve as a liaison between the field and office, ensuring seamless communication and issue resolution.
- Utilize construction management software such as Bluebeam for tracking project data.
- Maintain organized field records and documentation for closeout and future reference.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2 years of relevant experience (heavy mechanical, heavy industrial, etc.) or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of heavy civil construction methods, means, and materials.
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
- Effective leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in outdoor and high‑paced field environments.
The salary range for this position is between $85,000 and $95,000 per year, depending on experience and/or education.
