About the PositionThe BIM Assistant supports the Project Delivery and Field teams by developing, coordinating, and maintaining accurate Building Information Models (BIM) for HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring all systems are coordinated, constructible, and aligned with real-world installation conditions; supporting the company’s commitment to delivering every project right the first time.
Responsibilities- Assist in creating and updating BIM models for HVAC systems (ductwork, equipment, air distribution), mechanical systems, and plumbing systems using Revit and related software.
- Support coordination efforts across trades by identifying and helping resolve clashes involving ductwork, piping, structural elements, and electrical systems.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen to ensure models reflect field installation methods, sequencing, and constructability.
- Assist in producing shop drawings, spool drawings, and fabrication-ready models for HVAC and piping systems.
- Support prefabrication efforts, ensuring models include the level of detail required for efficient fabrication and installation.
- Maintain accurate and organized model files, revisions, and documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Participate in coordination meetings and update models based on feedback from internal teams and external partners.
- Assist with as-built modeling to accurately reflect final installed HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
- Extract quantities and data from models to support estimating, procurement, and project tracking.
- Help enforce BIM standards, naming conventions, and workflows across all projects.
- Support the Project Delivery team by delivering coordinated, buildable models that reduce field conflicts and rework.
- Ensure BIM models accurately represent HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing installation intent and align with project schedules.
- Improve collaboration between office and field teams through clear, reliable, and up-to-date model information.
- Contribute to successful prefabrication and installation efficiency through detailed and accurate modeling.
- Assist in achieving project goals related to quality, productivity, and profitability.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent)
- 1-3 years of experience in BIM, CAD, or MEP (HVAC/Plumbing/Mechanical) construction
- Proficiency in Revit required; experience with Navisworks and AutoCAD preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems (ductwork, airflow, equipment), piping systems, and mechanical layouts.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and constructability.
- Effective communication skills with both office and field personnel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Willingness to learn and grow within BIM and construction operations.
