CEI Roadway and Bridge Construction Engineer

Job Description

CDM Smith's CEI team in Knoxville, TN is seeking a CEI Roadway and Bridge Transportation Engineer who will:

• Assist with construction inspection activities at various transportation infrastructure construction projects such as roadway, bridge, drainage, erosion & control, and maintenance and traffic field site locations.
• Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure construction activities are on schedule and meeting contract requirements.
• Estimate manpower needs, schedule, and assign work to meet completion date deadlines set by client.
• Assist with coordination of the work for field inspection staff.
• Participate in new business development and maintain existing client relationships.
• Assist in developing and implementing new strategies to enhance our CEI capabilities.
• Keep abreast of new methods and developments affecting CDM Smith and recommend changes to current programs or implement new programs warranted by new developments.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• 1 year of related experience (equivalent additional experience may be considered).
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required (frequency contingent on duties).
• An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
• 20% travel required.
• Intermediate knowledge of construction management and construction engineering and inspection techniques, software, and practices.

• Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, specifications, and requirements.
