Electrical Technical Specialist – Overnight Shift
Alcoa, TN (100% Onsite) Full Time
Rotating Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Schedule:
4 days on / 4 days off
Requires weekend and off-shift support
The Electrical Technical Specialist – Overnight Shift provides advanced troubleshooting, technical leadership, and engineering support to maintenance and operations teams. This role focuses on restoring production flow, resolving recurring equipment issues, and improving system reliability in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
The position also supports outage planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and capital projects while working closely with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and resolve electrical and process issues to restore production flow
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to maintenance and craft teams
- Respond to production issues and support operations as needed
- Install, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen Bradley Logix
5000 preferred) - Work with AC/DC drives and industrial control systems
- Support instrumentation and control systems
- Support short- and long-term outage planning
- Assist with preventive and predictive maintenance systems
- Coordinate safety procedures including lockout/tagout
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze equipment and process data to identify opportunities
- Develop solutions to recurring design and process issues
- Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and repairs
- Assist in justification and implementation of new equipment
- Work cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, and production teams
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical systems and controls in industrial environments
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience
- Authorization to work in the U.S. (No visa sponsorship available)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field
- Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
- Experience with failure analysis (FMEA, RCM, SPC, TQM)
- Experience with AC/DC drives and automation systems
- Familiarity with instrumentation and HART communication
- Experience with gas-fired combustion systems
- Strong PLC and automation troubleshooting
- Electrical systems and controls expertise
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
