Job Summary

APTIM is seeking mechanical engineers to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Government and Commercial programs.

Engineers will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. We expect our engineers to be creative problem solvers and actively look for the best way to support our varied Government and commercial clients.

Engineers will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required. This position requires prior knowledge of the engineering and construction industry, understanding of basic corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work, construction safety protocols, and experience in a professional work environment. It offers opportunities to grow professionally while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry.

Engineers typically serve the projects both in the field (domestic and international assignments) and in the office, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and interpret engineering data, develop project design basis, specifications, and perform detailed engineering.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Develop conceptual design, calculations, system studies, and design drawings.
  • Collect and interpret engineering data, compile data for project reports, collect and compile field data as required, assist in proposal efforts, document technical data for management review, provide entry‑level duties as assigned, and assist with preparation of labor/material estimates and design packages for clients.
  • Be aware of costs and schedule related to own work.
  • Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others.
  • Communicate information, ask questions and check for understanding.
  • Contribute to a team environment.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • 2–7 years of related experience.
  • Basic knowledge of theories, practices and procedures in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering software). Some CADD experience (AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or Micro Station) is required. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nuclear experience is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for infrequent field assignments.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities.
  • FE and EIT candidates preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting.
  • Willingness to work across engineering disciplines.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000 per year. Compensation depends on factors such as experience, education, key skills, geographic location, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
