Electrical Engineer
AMS is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support engineering testing, troubleshooting, data analysis, hardware support, and technical documentation for critical systems used in nuclear power plants and other demanding environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to work with real equipment, real plant data, and real customer problems. AMS engineers support laboratory testing, field measurements, instrumentation system evaluations, equipment troubleshooting, data acquisition, hardware and software verification, and engineering reports.
Successful engineers at AMS combine strong technical aptitude with curiosity, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Training will be provided in AMS methodologies, proprietary systems, testing standards, nuclear industry expectations, and quality assurance processes.
The goal of this position is to develop an electrical engineer who can grow into a trusted technical contributor capable of supporting AMS's core engineering and testing services with professionalism, accuracy, and accountability.
What You'll Do
- Analyze real-world plant data, laboratory measurements, and electrical test results.
- Support testing and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems used in nuclear power plants.
- Assist with data acquisition, signal measurement, equipment setup, and analysis for commercial testing services, research projects, and engineering evaluations.
- Perform laboratory and field testing activities.
- Prepare equipment for laboratory testing and plant trips, including configuration, verification, documentation, checkout, and return to proper storage.
- Participate in on-site work at nuclear plants and customer facilities as needed, which may include field measurements, testing support, equipment setup, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with troubleshooting efforts when equipment, systems, or test results do not initially meet expected criteria.
- Support hardware development and equipment improvement activities, including prototype assembly, hardware testing, equipment troubleshooting, and documentation updates.
- Support quality assurance activities, including hardware and software verification, test plan execution, documentation completion, and adherence to structured engineering workflows.
- Draft and refine technical reports, trip reports, test documentation, and supporting engineering records with close attention to clarity, accuracy, and applicable requirements.
- Learn and apply applicable industry standards, test methods, customer requirements, and AMS procedures.
- Contribute improvement ideas that strengthen AMS testing methods, equipment, documentation, and overall service quality.
Who We're Looking For
- A curious and proactive learner who wants to master new technical areas, tools, standards, and test methods.
- A hands-on engineer who enjoys working with equipment, measurements, software, data, and real-world systems.
- A detail-oriented professional who understands that documentation accuracy matters in safety-critical applications.
- A critical thinker with a practical problem-solving mindset and the judgment to ask good questions when needed.
- A clear communicator who can represent AMS professionally with internal teams, customers, and plant personnel.
- A reliable and personally accountable team member who follows through on assigned work and takes ownership of results.
- A collaborative engineer who works effectively with technicians, engineers, managers, and customers in a respectful, high-performing environment.
- Someone who wants to build a long-term technical career in a specialized engineering company serving the nuclear industry.
