As Project Manager, works under limited supervision to run routine, small to mid-scale engineering, and/or architectural projects. Supervises and/or directs technical and project efforts (including schedule, budget, etc.) which may include direction/interaction with non-Pro2

- Possesses strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with clients, peers, and affiliates.
- Under limited supervision, handles routine, small to mid-scale projects (typically more than $50,000 but less than $500,000 in scope).
- Business Development – Leads proposal development.
- Develop and coordinate schedules, budgets, subcontractors, etc. as needed.
- Maintains Project status and Controls Cost.
- Review all cost estimates, schedule changes, etc.
- Prepares and coordinates reports, studies, calculations, etc. as required.
- May lead conferences/meetings with clients to establish project objectives and resolve all levels of design problems.
- Exhibits excellent working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards.
- Directs work efforts of project personnel.
- Demonstrates ability to get along with coworkers, and customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Additionally, assists the Mechanical department in day-to-day project coordination with: developing process flow diagrams, sequences of operations; selection and layout of mechanical equipment and associated piping systems; and developing mechanical construction and equipment specifications, test and inspection plans, and system design descriptions. Oversees/assists in performing heating and cooling load calculations with industry software (Trane Trace, HAP, etc.). Communicates with equipment vendors to determine requirements for applying products.
Coordinates with other disciplines (fire protection, architectural, structural, and electrical) for HVAC details. Understands work planning and manages design process to the available hours and schedule. Assists the department with reviewing calculations, design analyses, construction drawings, and specifications. Design experience should include the following:
- Mechanical wet and dry piping systems (all systems).
- Heating and chilled water hydronic piping systems, natural gas piping systems, domestic water and wastewater piping systems, steam and condensate piping systems, compressed air systems, and mechanical system controls, etc.
- Piping layout design.
- Facilities layout.
- Plumbing.
- Knowledge of federal requirements for life cycle cost analyses of energy-consuming systems and building envelope alternatives.
- Built-up AHUs, chiller, VAVs, HVAC, process exhaust.
- DOE, DOD and nuclear experience is a plus.
Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. A Master's Degree in Engineering is a plus.
Requires 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in Mechanical Engineering (HVAC) with minimum of 5 years of Project Management experience on engineering projects.
Ability to demonstrate competency in design of common HVAC systems and equipment, including both air and hydronic equipment as well as building controls.
Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge of codes and standards, including ICC, ASHRAE, ASME, IBC and NFPA.
Ability to demonstrate competency in leading internal teams in production of design packages including HVAC and plumbing.
Must have a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Must be familiar with plumbing system design including working knowledge of common plumbing codes.
Possess working knowledge of computers and software such as AutoCAD and/or Microstation, Microsoft Office Suite and software used for specific technical applications within the department.

Federal Government ClearanceIt is a plus if candidate has an Active Department of Energy "L" or "Q" clearance. This position may require the ability to obtain a government clearance, and may require reviews and tests for absence of any illegal drugs along with a background investigation by the Federal government in order to obtain an access authorization prior to employment; subsequent reinvestigations may be required.
