Mesa is seeking a Physical Engineering Associate for our Power Delivery Substation engineering design team based out of Knoxville, TN. The successful candidate should have 0-4 years of experience in Physical substation design in 69kV to 500kV substations. This individual will work with a team to complete substation Physical design projects to meet client standards and practices. They will be responsible for maintaining good quality and efficiency while developing deliverables such as:
One-Line Diagrams, Substation General/Electrical Arrangement Plans, Electrical Arrangement Elevations, Foundation Plans, Conduit Plans, Bills of Materials, Cable Schedules, Aluminum/Steel Fabrication Details.

A minimum of a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or related, from an ABET accredited college or university is required. Progressively responsible experience in 69kV to 500kV substation Physical design is preferred. However, we would consider someone with no experience, but an interest in substations. EIT is preferred.

Responsibilities include preparation and completion of discipline engineering designs and supporting documentation, coordinating and preparing design details, plans, and drawings, interfacing with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects as required, adhering to project scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects, performing other duties assigned by Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager, establishing, promoting, and assuring quality on all project work, working with Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager to follow up on construction issues with field engineers to help resolve problems and concerns in a timely manner, attending client organized project meetings with staff as required, incorporating safe work practices into all activities, working with Engineering Supervisor or Engineering Manager and team to assist with project execution, work processes, and procedures to help continually improve quality, productivity, and efficiency, using strong verbal and written communication skills with team members and clients, using interpersonal skills to build relationships with team members and clients, possessing knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD, and estimating and assisting in the preparation of bid packages.

This opportunity is for a hybrid work environment (home and office) and requires residing within the Knoxville, TN area. At this time, Mesa cannot transfer nor sponsor a work visa for this position.
