Job Summary

Under the general direction of upper management, this position supervises the day‑to‑day activities related to loan origination functions for a small team of Mortgage Loan Originators. The supervisor ensures that documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured in a timely manner from appropriate sources and meets specific loan volume origination goals established annually. The role also establishes referral source relationships for a steady flow of loan volume from real‑estate brokers, builders, and other external sources.

Responsibilities
  • Establish referral source relationships for a steady flow of loan volume from real‑estate brokers, builders and other external sources.
  • Actively participate in local and state mortgage banking, realtor, and builder trade associations, maintaining a thorough understanding of mortgage industry knowledge and event issues.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships within U.S. Bank Home Mortgage and other business lines to promote customer relationships and additional product sales.
  • Interview, recruit, and retain new talent through employee development and positive engagement.
  • Ensure documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing are secured in a timely manner from appropriate sources.
  • Meet specific loan volume origination goals established annually by upper management.
  • Maintain National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration, including criminal background and credit checks, in accordance with the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation

    Z.
  • Fail to maintain satisfactory criminal and credit records may result in rescission of offer or termination of employment.
  • Comply with all background check requirements per applicable local and federal laws.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two or more years of mortgage sales experience.
  • Minimum one year of mortgage, sales, real estate, or banking experience.
  • Ability to perform duties outside the regular place of business and drive at least two hours per week.
  • Experience meeting applicable NMLS registration requirements.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated new business development and relationship management skills.
  • Good knowledge of sales and sales strategies.
  • Thorough knowledge of mortgage products, operations, and current market trends.
  • Basic knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage‑insurance companies.
  • Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors.
  • Familiarity with local, state and national laws (e.g., zoning ordinances, Truth‑in‑Lending, RESPA, energy audit requirements).
  • Strong customer service, relational, detail orientation, and financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

& Work Arrangement

This role may be designated as U.S. home‑based remote. However, if the selected candidate resides near a U.S. Bank location, they will be expected to work onsite three (3) or more days per week.
