Job DescriptionThe primary purpose of the position is to provide assistance in implementation of research projects in the Healthy Eating and Activity Laboratory. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, performs scientific investigative research in behavioral medicine areas related to obesity care. Conducts research and delivers intervention according to established protocols; collects and analyzes data using statistical methodology.
Assists in writing reports on the research performed. Interacts with research assistants and participants of research projects.
Implements research protocols and methodology under intermittent supervision.
- Recruits and screens participants.
- Orients participants to study procedures and obtains consent.
- Collects, interprets, describes, and documents complex analytical and evaluative research data, particularly related to dietary assessment.
- Delivers, with autonomy, lifestyle obesity care interventions to participants.
- Manages data and databases.
Supervision
- Trains graduate and undergraduate students on data collection and data management.
Communication
- Prepares reports for IRB and data safety monitoring.
- Writes standard operating procedures and intervention materials.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree (Nutrition/public health/psychology/health promotion/kinesiology)
Experience:
1 year of research experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Professional integrity, including a thorough understanding of confidentiality, and Human Subjects Protection.
Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient for effective interactions with a broad range of individuals, including families.
Ability to use common office and database software.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Ability to work independently or on a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Knowledge about child and/or adult obesity care lifestyle intervention.
Ability to deliver behavioral interventions.

About The College/Department/Division
The Healthy Eating and Activity Laboratory (HEAL) is within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and is led by Dr. Hollie Raynor, the Executive Associate Dean of Research and Operations of the college. HEAL conducts research in the area of obesity care for children and adults, focusing on factors to investigate that allow Dr. Raynor to blend her training in nutrition and clinical psychology ().
