Volunteer Pharmacy is seeking a Lead Compounding Pharmacist to direct our high-volume compounding lab. This position is responsible for overseeing daily lab operations, supervising and developing staff, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, supporting workflow efficiency, and ensuring full compliance with all applicable regulatory and safety standards. We are looking for a hands‑on leader who is organized, dependable, and committed to accuracy, quality, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of a high‑volume compounding lab
  • Supervise, train, coach, and support compounding staff to maximize performance, accountability, and efficiency
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and oversee ordering, supply management, and stock control
  • Ensure compliance with USP 795, USP 800, NIOSH, OSHA, and all applicable federal and state regulations
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, quality controls, and standard operating procedures
  • Monitor workflow and productivity, identify operational issues, and implement process improvements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and inspection‑ready lab environment
  • Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to support quality, growth, and operational excellence
Qualifications
  • Active pharmacist license in Tennessee, or ability to obtain licensure before start date
  • Previous experience in a compounding pharmacy required
  • Experience supervising, leading, or directing staff required
  • Strong knowledge of compounding regulations, compliance standards, and lab best practices
  • Experience managing inventory and supporting a high‑volume workflow
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality assurance, and team development
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a high‑volume compounding environment
  • Experience with workflow optimization and team performance management
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software, documentation systems, and audit readiness
