This role goes well beyond issuing purchase orders. You will use market intelligence, supplier relationships, commercial judgment, and internal demand requirements to improve cost competitiveness and protect continuity of supply.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute resin commodity strategies that improve cost, supply security, purchasing leverage, and supplier performance.
- Monitor resin pricing, feedstock and market movements, capacity, availability, lead times, and emerging supply risks.
- Identify, qualify, select, and manage resin and raw-material suppliers.
- Lead RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, and competitive sourcing initiatives.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, service levels, volume commitments, supply agreements, and other commercial conditions.
- Evaluate sourcing options using total cost, quality, technical capability, capacity, regulatory compliance, service, and supply risk.
- Develop alternate suppliers, materials, and sourcing strategies to reduce dependency and prevent disruption.
- Conduct supplier visits, audits, business reviews, and performance evaluations.
- Lead cost-reduction, value-analysis, and supplier-improvement initiatives.
- Use market data, supplier intelligence, forecasts, and manufacturing requirements to guide purchasing decisions.
- Contribute to material budgets, cost forecasts, procurement objectives, and management reporting.
- Work with Supply Chain, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, Technical Services, and Sales to resolve shortages, quality concerns, and other material risks.
- Maintain accurate contracts, specifications, quotation histories, price records, supplier data, and performance documentation.
The role may also provide procurement support for MRO, indirect materials, professional services, and capital equipment; however,
resin procurement is the essential specialization
.
To be considered, you must have:

- At least five years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, commodity management, purchasing, or supply management.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing, resin-dependent manufacturing, polymers, compounds, chemicals, or another directly relevant manufacturing sector.
- Strong commercial judgment, analytical ability, negotiation skills, and supplier-management capability.
- The ability to travel to supplier and company locations in the United States and Canada as required.
Important: Exposure to resins through sales, production, engineering, logistics, or general chemical purchasing…
