The Grants and Foundations Coordinator is responsible for securing revenue by determining concepts, gathering and formatting information, writing, and obtaining approvals for existing and new grants for unrestricted operating revenue and designated projects. Prospecting new funding sources is critical to this role.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage and sustain existing grant opportunities by cultivating relationships with and providing stewardship to foundation officers, foundation trustees, government entities, and other prospects, including initiating appointments to meet with Program Leaders and attending program tours.
  • Explore, research, and apply for new grant opportunities that align with the agency’s mission, program needs, and financial goals.
  • Increase agency revenue by accepting ownership of successfully securing new and different grant‑funding opportunities by creating specific, measurable, achievable, results‑focused and time‑bound goals.
  • Meet grant deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, reviewing, and final approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; providing grant status information to review meetings; transmitting grants.
  • Read, edit, and finalize all grants to bring a consistent tone, ensure content matches grant, follow up with Program Leaders to get feedback and revisions prior to final approval while ensuring all grants stay on schedule.
  • Prepare letters of intent and grants by following grant‑writing standards including concise persuasive writing, consistency, and tone.
  • Be an expert on the organization’s programs, goals, and financial needs and attend strategy meetings.
  • Gather up‑to‑date grant information by identifying sources of information and coordinating collection of information.
  • Improve grant‑writing results by evaluating and re‑designing processes, approach, and coordination; implementing changes.
  • Develop, update, and monitor matrix of all agency grant/contract applications submitted and present the results periodically to the administration and program staff.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects, as requested, including thank‑you letters, custom funding request letters, and attending events.
  • Assist with administration needs as assigned by the Development Manager.
  • Track all grant prospecting, stewardship, and results in NXT and provide weekly reports on progress and activities.
  • Ensure prospecting is targeted to agency needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be an organized self‑starter who can handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Must have strong written communication skills and possess the ability to write clear, structured, grammatically correct, articulate, and persuasive grants.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Must have strong editing skills and attention to detail.
  • Must have budgeting and analytical skills.
  • Must be willing to travel if required.
  • Must maintain any training and certification requirements.
  • Must support the teachings of the Catholic Church and embody our organization’s mission and culture through behavior and daily interactions.
  • Regular and predictable on‑site attendance is required.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, public relations, marketing or related field is required.
  • Minimum 3‑5 years’ experience with researching and developing grant proposals.
  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources and familiarity with research and prospecting techniques.
  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
