3 Montvue, Short Stay Unit:
The Parkwest Short Stay Unit is a 30‑bed unit designed to support efficient patient flow through dedicated admission and discharge care areas. Nurses in the Short Stay Unit provide high–quality, patient–centered care to individuals admitted from the Emergency Department and primary care offices, as well as the patients preparing for discharge. Through coordinated nursing assessments, timely interventions, and interdisciplinary collaboration, nurses facilitate safe transitions into and out of the hospital.
The streamlined admission and discharge processes implemented by nursing staff reduce wait times, enhance communication, and ensure that patients receive comprehensive care and education, supporting positive patient outcomes and an improved care experience.
Position Summary:
Provides professional nursing care within an assigned unit; coordinates care planning with other disciplines.
Responsibilities- Completes nursing history and initiates patient education.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
- Implements plan of care appropriate to diagnosis. Evaluates care outcomes.
- Problem solves and coordinates unit/patient care assignments, with supervision.
- Introduces new employees/students to unit routines.
- Participates on unit‑based committees.
- Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills (checklist) to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age‑specific needs of the population served.
- Supervises LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs and sitters.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
New graduate, within first (1st) year of orientation (move to level II after one (1) Year experience).
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain Tennessee State RN license. CPR required.
