Occupational Health Nurse, Public Health Nurse
The Registered Nurse (RN) will serve as a key member of the Corporate Medical team, supporting occupational health operations across multiple construction projects nationwide. This position is responsible for coordinating pre‑employment medical processes, managing occupational injuries and illnesses, providing clinical guidance to employees and operations teams, and developing proactive employee health initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated, organized healthcare professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is comfortable making independent clinical decisions while collaborating closely with the Corporate Medical Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Occupational Injury & Illness Management- Receive, triage, and manage injury and illness calls from jobsites across the company.
- Provide evidence‑based clinical recommendations regarding treatment, work status, and appropriate level of care.
- Coordinate follow‑up care and monitor employee recovery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all employee encounters.
- Communicate with operations leadership regarding employee medical status and return‑to‑work recommendations.
- Escalate complex cases to the Corporate Medical Director as appropriate.
- Assist in managing non‑occupational employee illnesses when guidance is requested.
- Provide employee education regarding health concerns and available resources.
- Support return‑to‑work and fitness‑for‑duty evaluations.
- Coordinate and assist with scheduling pre‑employment physical examinations and drug testing.
- Communicate with occupational health clinics and third‑party vendors.
- Monitor completion of required medical clearances prior to employment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate employee wellness initiatives.
- Lead chronic disease prevention and management programs focused on:
- Diabetes
- Cardiovascular health
- General wellness education
- Analyze program outcomes and recommend improvements.
- Create educational materials and health promotion campaigns.
- Assist with development of medical protocols and clinical procedures.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee health information.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic medical documentation systems
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Occupational Health experience
- Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Primary Care, or Case Management experience
- Construction or industrial health experience
- COHN or COHN‑S certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Willingness to travel domestically as needed for jobsite visits, health initiatives, meetings, and training.
- Estimated travel: 15–25%.
- Participate in an after‑hours on‑call rotation to provide clinical support for employee injuries and illnesses.
- Availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
- Ability to travel to active construction sites.
- Ability to walk uneven terrain and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
