Responsibilities
Med Surg RNs provide bedside care for diverse patients and conduct individualized assessments to develop personalized care plans. They prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments. Key duties include:
- Preparing, administering, and recording prescribed medications
- Monitoring for adverse symptoms and initiating alternative actions as needed
- Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs when necessary
- Strong assessment and clinical skills
- Ability to perform various nursing procedures and respond to patient needs
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
