RN - Infusion

License: Active RN License

Certifications: BLS, ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification, NIHSS

  • Chemotherapy/infusion experience

Orientation consists of bi-weekly sessions. Candidates will connect with the Chief Nursing Officer once offered. Candidates may speak with the Chief Nursing Officer either before accepting or before starting. Shifts are Monday through Friday with no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call required. The position will require floating to various locations based on staffing needs. Requests for time off during any holiday or holiday week will not be accommodated.

This policy applies to all specified holidays throughout the year. Travelers may directly address any holiday requests for time off with management after arriving onsite. Local candidates may be compensated at a lower rate based on proximity to the facility. The required vaccinations include the flu vaccine, with medical or religious exemptions considered. Preferred experience with charting systems, specifically Cerner.

Patients served include adults and geriatrics. Daily visit expectations are about 40 visits. The infusion unit supports various oncology and hematology diagnoses. Familiarity with supportive care medications, hydration, electrolytes, and immunotherapy is essential. Proficiency in administering chemotherapy and managing central lines is crucial for this role. Candidates should have the ability to recognize and communicate abnormal lab values. Strong skills in patient and family education and support are vital.

Candidates must demonstrate abilities to manage side effects related to treatments. Experience with phlebotomy and starting and maintaining IVs is required. Wound care and post-surgical care knowledge are beneficial. Hypertension management and hydration skills are also part of the expected competencies. The unit has interdisciplinary support services in place. Chemotherapy administration experience is required. All candidates must have current experience in infusion and chemotherapy.
