About the Position
This is a adjunct faculty role that focuses on delivering high-quality undergraduate and/or graduate nursing education, including clinical supervision. Responsibilities encompass instruction, student assessment, and collaboration on clinical placements and curriculum revisions. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the College’s teaching needs.
Duties:
Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of nursing academic programs:
- Participate in program and course revisions.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses as assigned
- Supervise nursing students as assigned
- Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula
- Apply evidence from best education practices to curriculum development and to teaching
- Serve the College of Nursing, University, community and profession:
- Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate
- Contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Nursing and the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
- Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members both within the College of Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.
Work Location
- Various clinical sites in the Knoxville, Tennessee area
- Clinical models anticipate two days a week either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, Thursday
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with at least 5 years clinical experience
- Licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee prior to employment
- Effective interpersonal skills and cultural competence
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students and colleagues
Desirable
Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at time of appointment
- Evidence of successful clinical and/or classroom teaching experience
- Eligibility for APRN licensure in Tennessee
Experience with instructional media and technology
