About the Position

This is a adjunct faculty role that focuses on delivering high-quality undergraduate and/or graduate nursing education, including clinical supervision. Responsibilities encompass instruction, student assessment, and collaboration on clinical placements and curriculum revisions. Appointments are made on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the College’s teaching needs.

Duties:

Participate in the ongoing development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of nursing academic programs:

• Participate in program and course revisions.
  • Teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses as assigned
  • Supervise nursing students as assigned
  • Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula
  • Apply evidence from best education practices to curriculum development and to teaching
• Serve the College of Nursing, University, community and profession:
  • Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate
• Contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Nursing and the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
• Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members both within the College of Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities.

Work Location

• Various clinical sites in the Knoxville, Tennessee area
• Clinical models anticipate two days a week either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, Thursday

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with at least 5 years clinical experience
• Licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee prior to employment
• Effective interpersonal skills and cultural competence
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students and colleagues

Desirable

Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) at time of appointment
• Evidence of successful clinical and/or classroom teaching experience
• Eligibility for APRN licensure in Tennessee
