Animal Emergency & Specialty Center – Knoxville is seeking two Full-Time Veterinary Receptionists to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.
Department: Receptionists
Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Compensation: $17.00 - $19.00 / hour
Day Shift Receptionist – Ideal schedule: 6:00am–4:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm
Evening/Swing Shift Receptionist – Ideal schedule: 4:00pm–2:00am or 5:00pm–3:00am
We also offer the option of three 12-hour shifts per week for candidates who prefer a condensed schedule. Final scheduling will rotate and includes weekend and holiday requirements.
AESC Knoxville is a 24/7 Emergency & Specialty Veterinary Hospital providing advanced medical, surgical, and critical care services. Our reception team plays a crucial role in supporting clients during high-stress and emotional situations.
We are looking for professionals with prior healthcare, emergency, or high-volume medical reception experience who can remain calm, organized, and compassionate in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do Client Service & Front Desk Operations- Greet clients professionally and compassionately during emergency and specialty visits
- Manage high call volume and multi-line phone systems
- Accurately check patients in and out
- Maintain efficient patient flow between reception and medical teams
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding wait times, triage processes, and updates
- Support clients through stressful and time-sensitive situations
- Relay accurate information between doctors, technicians, and pet owners
- Process payments and manage point-of-sale transactions accurately
- Maintain detailed and confidential medical records
- Assist with scheduling specialty rechecks and follow‑up appointments
- Work closely with ER doctors, specialty teams, and technicians
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area
- Support overall hospital efficiency during peak caseload times
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a healthcare, veterinary, emergency, dental, or medical reception setting
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable working evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays
- Dependable and adaptable with strong attention to detail
- Veterinary emergency or specialty hospital experience
- Familiarity with veterinary practice management software
- Experience handling difficult or emotional client interactions
- Full-Time position
- Rotating weekends and holidays required
- Day Shift and Evening/Swing Shift openings available
- Option for 3×12 hour shift schedule
