The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Master’s program emphasizes the importance of prior research experience and a strong academic background in the life sciences. Applicants are expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in science and mathematics courses and successful candidates typically have research experience as undergraduates or have completed a Master’s thesis in a related field.

Graduate students engage in research projects that often lead to publication in journals such as Science, Ecology, and Systematic Biology. Responsibilities include contributing to research, participating in fieldwork, and engaging in outreach and service activities such as invasive species removal, taxonomic field forays, organizing science events, and mentoring junior students.

Students receive benefits including health insurance, a tuition waiver, and access to extensive external research funding. Additional support is provided through access to a DNA sequencing facility, computer clusters, field stations, and boats for field research.
