Job Description & How to Apply Below

Company Description Daisy Genomics Inc. (powered by Daisy Technologies) is an early-stage company developing proprietary optical sequencing technology for precision medicine applications. Instead of relying on traditional genome sequencing methods that require extensive library preparation and complex data reassembly, Daisy uses nanochannels to guide single molecules through nanostructures for optical readout via Raman spectroscopy. This approach aims to deliver faster, more comprehensive, and more accurate genomic analysis than current technologies.

The company is focused on building a platform that streamlines genomic workflows and reduces computational burden, enabling more efficient and accessible precision medicine solutions. Team members have the opportunity to contribute directly to cutting-edge innovation in genomics and nanotechnology.

Role Description The Nanofabrication Technician role is based in Knoxville, TN. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting the fabrication, testing, and optimization of nanochannels and related nanostructures used in the company’s optical sequencing platform. This may involve operating cleanroom and laboratory equipment, preparing substrates, performing lithography and etching processes, and assisting with process development and documentation. The technician will collect and analyze fabrication data, maintain detailed records of experiments, and collaborate closely with scientists and engineers to refine device performance.

Additional tasks may include inventory management of fabrication materials, adherence to safety protocols, and participation in troubleshooting and continuous improvement of nanofabrication workflows.

Qualifications

  • Nanofabrication and microfabrication skills, including experience with lithography, etching, thin-film deposition, or related semiconductor/ MEMS processes.
  • Hands-on experience working in a cleanroom or advanced laboratory environment, with strong adherence to standard operating procedures and safety practices.
  • Basic understanding of nanotechnology, materials science, or device physics relevant to nanochannels and nanostructures.
  • Competence in data collection, documentation, and use of scientific tools (e.g., microscopes, metrology instruments, laboratory software) to evaluate fabrication outcomes.
  • Ability to follow detailed technical instructions, perform careful experimental work, and maintain organized records of processes and results.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, materials science, biotechnology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Prior experience in genomics, optical systems, Raman spectroscopy, or precision medicine technologies is beneficial but not required.
  • Demonstrated reliability, time management skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced early-stage company environment.
