Facilities Assistant - Juvenile Service Center

The purpose of this classification is to prepare meals, receive food supplies from vendors, conduct inventory, serve meals to juveniles, clean, sort, and distribute laundry and linens, and other duties as assigned.

The Facilities Assistant is responsible for the following essential functions:

• Cleans, cuts, prepares, and cooks various food in large amounts to a safe temperature.
• Prepares and cooks various items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements, or the number of portions to be served.
• Apportions and serves food to juveniles
• Washes cooking equipment such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces.
• Develops, compiles, and maintains food records regarding use and expenditures.
• Receives food and supplies from vendors, inspect shipments received and maintain accurate records.
• Inventories supplies and equipment.
• Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of galley equipment, kitchen appliances, laundry equipment and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece.
• Wash, clean, fold and distribute all laundry and linens.
• Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours
• Perform other duties as required

• High School diploma or GED
• Minimum of one (1) years related experience in food service or related field
• Must possess and maintain CPR certification
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position

• Basic understanding of PCs, tablets, smartphones and other electronic devices
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office suite of products

• Good problem solving and critical thinking skills

• This position requires the ability to engage in frequent, moderate physical activity and occasional, heavy physical activity. Ability to lift up to 50lbs at times.
• Must be able to operate a variety of equipment, such as a mixer, fryer, stove, steam pot, oven, grill, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, etc.
• Exposure to loud or hot kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Sharp kitchen tools and equipment that could cause bodily harm if not operated correctly.
• Exposure to heat, humidity and cleaning chemicals.
