About the role

  • The Operator 1 works out of Stansell Electric’s Nashville office, assisting in all aspects of in the installation, alteration, addition, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type project. The Operator I must be is an equipment apprentice who is enrolled in qualified (ABC or factory) classes and has between Zero and 2,000 hours of actual on‑job experience commensurate to the satisfactory completion of position’s primary duties and responsibilities.

    Advancement opportunities are available by advancing to more senior positions or through transfer to skilled trades.
  • Able to operate a backhoe, skid steer, mini ex, saw, evacuator, and/or trencher/rock wheel, etc.
  • Understand and operate equipment within the capability, limitations, and functionality of the machine.
  • Know and follow the inspection of routine maintenance of the equipmen

What you'll do

  • Helps in securing, relocating and organizing materials, small tools, and equipment from and back to appropriate storage areas.
  • Keeps work area and equipment clean by collecting and disposing of scrap, excess materials, and refuse.
  • Keeps equipment, tools and material clean and organized.
  • Assists in pulling wire, lifting, shoveling, raking, hoisting, and positioning materials.
  • May operate less complicated hand tools and equipment under direct supervision of a foreman or senior operator.
  • Digs trenches by use of hand tools and equipment.
  • Assists in mounting strapping, placing and burying conduit.
  • Assists more senior personnel in less complicated electrical installations, connections, and terminations under close supervision.
  • Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
  • DOES NOT WORK ON ENERGIZED CIRCUITS OR EQUIPMENT.
  • Helps keep equipment maintained daily.
  • Performs all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Understand and follow jobsite directions and instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Comprehends and abides by Stansell Electric customer policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Reports all violations to immediate supervisor.
  • Understand/Perform other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervision.
  • Read and interpret maps and instructional manuals.

Qualifications

  • Wearing personal tool belt at all times on the job. The waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 pounds with tool pouch, tools, and nail bags.
  • Completing a full day's assignments involving one or more of the following; bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, pushing, pulling, reaching over head, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Digging trenches and excavations, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
