Kodiak College is seeking applicants for an accounting supervisor position. This position involves a great deal of attention-to-detail and ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and institutional policies. Responsible for developing, updating and implementing financial strategies and solutions. Must have the ability to collaborate and support management to align financial requirements with organizational business objectives.

To be successful in this role the applicant will possess college coursework in Accounting or related field and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience developing and managing complex budgets with multiple funding sources and restrictions within a computerized accounting system. Strong general ledger and journal entry experience. Experience gathering, assembling, and analyzing data to reconcile timely and accurate accounting reports.

Experience developing alternatives, making recommendations, and resolving issues, experience managing grants, including budgets and reporting. Experience with confidential records and information. Experience working with Banner or other accounting information systems preferred. Computer experience to include Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, Experience working in Excel with complex spreadsheet, pivot tables, charts, data analysis. Experience working collaboratively with other departments to meet goals and customer service experience will help to make the applicant thrive in this role.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics or related field and 6 months professional fiscal experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced technical skills in the BANNER finance, student, and human resources modules, Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Knowledge and experience in accounting and budget maintenance in a government setting.
Position Details

This position is located on the Kodiak College campus on Kodiak Island. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage.

New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
