Position: Court Case Manager II: Essential Court Filings & Scheduling

Major duties will include the following:

The Criminal Clerk is responsible for maintaining all criminal and minor offense case files from initial filing through final disposition. Duties include reviewing daily jail rosters to ensure complaints are received by assigned court dates, preparing and organizing case files, verifying required documentation, and preparing court-related documents such as summonses, arrest warrants, release orders, and temporary orders. The position also requires accurate data entry, daily computer scheduling updates, and processing paperwork from weekend and holiday proceedings.

This position works closely with judges, magistrates, law enforcement agencies, correctional facilities, and attorneys to ensure timely handling of urgent filings and court actions. Responsibilities include preparing calendaring orders, bench warrants, transport orders, and other court documents, as well as distributing paperwork to all involved parties. The clerk communicates regularly by phone and email regarding inmate transport, release conditions, and other time-sensitive matters.

Additional responsibilities include closing case files after disposition, preparing fines, surcharges, restitution notices, and coordinating the disbursement of bail or restitution funds. The clerk responds to public and agency inquiries regarding criminal matters, including warrant recalls, court date changes, bail exonerations, and extension requests. This position also serves as the weekly grand jury in-court clerk and provides backup courtroom support for judges and magistrates as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Clerk of Court.

The Work Hours
Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of advanced clerical work experience equivalent to a Court Case Manager 1 with the Alaska Court System or an equivalent position with another employer.

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution.

OR

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college.
