The College of Arts and Sciences, Natural Science Division at UAA is seeking applicants for its adjunct instructor pool for the following Departments:
- Biological Sciences
- Chemistry
- Geological Sciences
- Physics & Astronomy
Adjunct faculty should have a passion for sharing knowledge, teaching, and helping students realize their academic aspirations.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses aligned with specific course content guides.
- Engage effectively and courteously with students, staff, faculty, administration, and the public.
- Collaborate with department chairs and colleagues to maintain high instructional standards.
Minimum Qualifications: MA/MS in Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Physics/Astronomy, or a related field (unless an exception has been approved by the Dean of CAS). For upper‑division or graduate courses, a terminal degree in the discipline is required. Exceptions may be considered for candidates with significant professional credentials and experience.
Position DetailsThis part‑time, union‑represented adjunct position is located on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus in Anchorage, Alaska. Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester‑by‑semester appointment within a hiring pool. Acceptance into the pool does not guarantee an appointment; availability is determined each semester based on instructional needs. New hires are placed on the adjunct salary schedule outlined in the UNAD CBA, based on education and experience.
