Description
The City of Kodiak is recruiting for a full-time Library Specialist in the Kodiak Public Library Department. The Department is looking for an experienced team player who has the desire to be part of a progressive community library working hard to serve the needs of our community. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing a variety of technical, para‑professional, and some professional librarian services in accordance with the assigned area.
The Library Department provides a variety of services and programs to support and enrich the lives of the residents of Kodiak.
ResponsibilitiesThe Library Specialist is responsible for efficient delivery of a variety of programs for youth and adults in the Kodiak community and may be assigned specific program area(s), including, but not limited to the following:
- Access Services
- Collection Services
- Youth Services
The Library Specialist must perform these duties in a manner that reflects positively on the City and the Department.
Tasks include
- Developing, planning, administering, and leading educational activities
- Providing assistance to patrons in locating educational, professional and recreational material
- Assisting with the development of operating policies and procedures for the assigned Library section
- Evaluating and selecting materials
- Preparing bibliographies, booklists, and program guides
- Providing work guidance to Library staff
