City Manager

Position

City Manager (Full‑time Contracted Exempt) for the City of Kodiak.

Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

• Plan, direct, manage, and oversee all activities and operations of the City under the policy direction of the City Council.
• Execute City laws and ordinances and implement policy decisions made by the City Council.
• Provide information on policy, legislative, and financial decisions to the City Council.
• Ensure public services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain contact with citizens to determine problems and provide information.
• Facilitate development and implementation of City goals and objectives.
• Provide complex administrative support to the City Council.
• Maintain professional expertise that promotes efficient use of City resources.

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum of five to seven years of experience in municipal government administrative or executive capacity.
• At least five years of supervisory and personnel management experience.
• Investment or related experience, or equivalently demonstrated knowledge, skills, and ability.
• Ability to succeed in a city manager role as described above.

At the time of appointment, the manager need not be resident of the City or State; during tenure, the manager shall reside within the City.

Kodiak is a home‑rule city with a council‑manager form of government and about 6,000 residents, plus ~7,000 in nearby communities.
