Lead Firefighter

This vacancy is for a GS-0081-9, Lead Firefighter located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE KODIAK FIRE SAFETY DIVISION
-FF in KODIAK, Alaska.

To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

• Conducting administrative and personnel management procedures and requirements, financial and organizational processes; including Quality Improvement techniques.
• Knowledge of recognized standards covering structural and aircraft fire response procedures/techniques and fire prevention.
• Knowledge of the operation and inspection procedures for various fire protection systems.
• Conducting fire certification training and examinations.
• Operating, maintaining, and making minor repairs to crash and structural apparatus, assigned vehicles and firefighting/rescue equipment.
• Leading fire and safety inspections of structures, fire extinguishers, and/or assists with the performance of basic fire investigations.

In addition to the requirements above, possession of the following qualifications and certifications are highly desired upon application.

EMT - Basic Life Support - EMT certification shall be in accordance with the State or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians requirements.
