SUMMARY
Katmai Wilderness Lodge is seeking a highly capable, organized, and self-motivated Facilities & Operations Coordinator for our 2027 season. This is a hands‑on and highly trusted position responsible for helping maintain the readiness, appearance, organization, and day‑to‑day functionality of our remote wilderness lodge. The Facilities & Operations Coordinator works across nearly every area of the property and plays an important behind‑the‑scenes role in ensuring both lodge operations and the guest experience run smoothly.
The Facilities & Operations Coordinator is entrusted with significant responsibility for the condition and operational readiness of Katmai Wilderness Lodge. The position requires someone who can be given responsibility for an area and take ownership of it, recognizing what needs to be done without requiring a checklist or reminder for every individual task.
This is an excellent position for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in keeping things organized and operating correctly, and is comfortable moving between guest‑facing responsibilities, property maintenance, logistics, equipment, and general lodge operations. No two days at KWL are exactly alike.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintain the overall readiness, organization, cleanliness, and presentation of lodge facilities, grounds, guest areas, and operational spaces.
- Assist with general facility maintenance, minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and property upkeep.
- Maintain and organize storage areas, operational supplies, equipment, and back‑stock inventory.
- Manage waste collection and assist with preparation of materials for aircraft and barge backhaul.
- Support guest changeovers and help ensure the lodge is fully prepared for incoming guests.
- Maintain the lodge guest equipment program, including organization, cleaning, inspection, sizing, and readiness of guest gear.
- Support aircraft arrival/departure, guest luggage, freight, and backhaul operations.
- Maintain outdoor areas, grounds, trails, decks, and other guest‑facing spaces.
- Monitor facility supplies and basic operational systems and communicate developing needs or concerns to the Lodge Manager.
- Identify maintenance or operational issues early and address appropriate minor issues or report them promptly.
- Support other lodge departments and general property operations as needed.
- Ensuring guest spaces are ready, operational areas are organized, equipment is prepared before it is needed, and developing problems are identified early.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
None. This position works directly with and under the direction of the Lodge Managers and is expected to take initiative within assigned responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to live and work successfully in a remote, communal environment for the duration of the season.
- Five (5) years of previous experience in lodge or resort operations, facilities, property management, maintenance, construction, landscaping, remote‑camp operations, or a related field.
- General handyman or mechanical aptitude.
- Experience operating utility vehicles, small equipment, or similar machinery.
- Experience working in remote environments.
- Familiarity with generators, propane systems, basic facility maintenance, or off‑grid operations is beneficial but not required.
- Takes pride in knowing that the condition, readiness, and presentation of KWL are directly influenced by their work.
- Highly organized, dependable, observant, and detail‑oriented.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently while also functioning well as part of a small team.
