This role serves as the primary administrator for the DIAL AWS Gov Cloud environment, overseeing essential platforms such as AMANDA, File Cloud, and the DIAL Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). The position is responsible for File Cloud administration and delivering technical support to all users, ensuring reliable operations and seamless user experiences across the organization.

The Iowa Department of Management (DOM) seeks a skilled Infrastructure Technical Specialist (ITS) with expertise in AWS, AWS VDI, and File Cloud.

• Administer and maintain the DIAL AWS Gov Cloud environment.
• Manage File Cloud for staff onboarding, support, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain AWS infrastructure for VDI.
• Implement advanced system security methods and techniques.
• Handle on-call nightly and weekend patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Provide clear status updates and adhere to quality standards.
• Work collaboratively across teams with excellent verbal and written communication.
• Operate independently with minimal supervision.

• File Cloud administrator experience.
• Experience managing AWS infrastructure for VDI.
• Knowledge of advanced system security methods and techniques.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks and provide status updates.
• On-call support experience for patching and upgrades.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Proactive initiative and self-learning of new systems.

• Broad experience with cloud adoption, application readiness assessment, prototyping of new environments, server builds, and data migration.
• Enterprise systems administrator experience in a client or server environment, including deployment automation tools.
• Customer-facing support or consulting experience.
• Experience with cloud service providers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Google Cloud Platform.
• Design and implementation of distributed systems architecture on private or public cloud infrastructure.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed environments for connectivity, application performance, and monitoring.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms.
• Extensive knowledge of hardware, software, networking, and storage systems.
• Strategic planning and advice for cloud adoption or migration.
• Performance tuning of cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and CLI; 1-2 years of VM infrastructure experience.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Technical knowledge of network, storage, Linux/Windows; application knowledge of Java, .Net, and IT security.

• File Cloud Administration experience handling staff onboarding, troubleshooting, and support. (Minimum 8 years)
• Ability to manage AWS infrastructure for VDI. (Minimum 5 years)
• Ability to manage AWS infrastructure supporting business applications. (Minimum 5 years)
• Knowledge of advanced system security methods. (Minimum 5 years)
• Ability to complete assigned tasks, provide clear status updates, adhere to quality standards, and collaborate. (Minimum 5 years)
• On-call nightly and weekend patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting experience. (Minimum 5 years)
