Full Time (30‑40 hours/week)

Duties

Incumbent will operate under the supervision of the Boat House Manager and MWR Programs Chief.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with planning, developing, organizing, and carrying out MWR Boat House program for active‑duty military, dependents, retirees, and authorized civilians (April‑October). This includes rigging, maintenance, and troubleshooting of outboard and Kicker engines, electronic equipment, 12 v electrical, fuel, navigation systems, and other mechanical needs on 23’ Pacific morale boats.
  • Assist with private boating operations, boat rentals, camper and ATV trailer rentals, resale operations, and overall safety and cleanliness of the boating area.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection of equipment and facilities, handling requests for maintenance, repair, or removal.
  • Conduct boating safety orientation courses and plan special events such as classes and fishing tournaments.
  • Plan for tsunami safety to protect Marina assets; operate 2‑1/2‑ton truck and forklift as required; act as shift lead for up to six NAF and Active‑Duty Coast Guard staff.
  • Assist all MWR facility managers (November‑March) with equipment maintenance, inventory updates, and manual labor tasks with hand tools and simple power equipment.
  • Provide customer service, financial transaction support via POS register, property safety compliance, marketing support, and record‑keeping as required by management.
  • Adhere to safety regulations, report hazards, and pursue continuous improvement.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in boating, including small boat handling and boat trailering.
  • At least one year of boat engine and systems maintenance and repair.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Experience using basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver) and power tools (saws, drills).

Preferred:

  • Experience planning, developing, organizing, and carrying out recreation programs.
  • One year of experience in marina operations or closely related field.
  • Honda Marine Technician Certification or other marine technical certification.
