Treatment Plant Operator Lead

This is the third level in a three level Water Operations series.

The class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

Serving in a lead capacity, monitors safe operational activities and maintains treatment plant(s).

• Supervising the operations of the leachate treatment plant and required equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable water quality regulations; operating and maintaining equipment; training staff and monitoring compliance with procedures; providing training to staff; reviewing work for conformance with policies and procedures; and performing other related activities.
• Performing or assigning and leading activities proper operational and safety procedures; reviewing the work of staff; monitoring regulatory compliance; and performing other related activities.
• Overseeing the efficient and proper operation of the leachate treatment plant(s).
• Monitoring and systems.
• Monitoring the proper operation of pumps, blowers, chemical equipment and controls of the treatment plant; taking corrective action as necessary.
• Compiling information for reports for regulatory agencies by recording readings and test results.
• Maintaining and repairing treatment plant facilities and equipment, and documenting and maintaining logbooks on service and maintenance activities.
• Conducting laboratory tests and maintaining thorough and accurate records of test results; preparing related reports.
• Operating a variety of equipment, including belt press, forklift, screens, chemical manufacturing and feed systems, pump stations, computer control systems, and other applicable equipment.
• Serving as a back‑up and assisting landfill staff as needed in performing Baler Operator activities.
• Performing other duties of a similar nature and level.
