Traffic Specialist - ALASKA PACIFIC SEAFOODS (TCS - APS)

The Kodiak plant, known as Alaska Pacific Seafoods or APS, operates 12 months a year, with peak production during the summer months. Position Summary

The Traffic Control Specialist is responsible for managing product inventory, shipping and receiving operations, product labeling compliance, and logistics coordination. This role ensures accurate inventory control, efficient loading and shipping activities, and compliance with company, regulatory, and customer requirements. The Traffic Control Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining product flow from production through shipment while ensuring accuracy, organization, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all tasks associated with product inventory, receiving, storage, labeling, and shipment preparation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for plant products and holding room inventory.
  • Review, print, and verify product labels to ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer/country-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate and execute product orders, shipping schedules, and container loading plans.
  • Verify shipment accuracy and ensure products are loaded according to established procedures and customer specifications.
  • Monitor, maintain, and upload scanner data related to inventory movement and shipments.
  • Receive incoming materials and products, verify quantities and documentation, and ensure proper inventory entry.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant, and organized paper and electronic records related to inventory and logistics activities.
  • Work closely with production, quality assurance, sales, and transportation providers to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
  • Send a daily shipping report with high level of detail to Management and production staff.
  • Conduct sales for local purchases and bait, flag them in the system and maintain inventory. Provide closing month end balance to corporate accounting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a data-intensive logistics or production role, specifically handling shipping documentation and inventory management is required.
  • Logistical experience within the seafood industry is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and numbers.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Influential, collaborative, professional demeanor.
  • Effective oral and written communications.
  • Ability to work long hours, seven days a week, during peak seasons.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Transportation, Room and Board

The majority of employees are locals who live in town. Non-local employees may be able to live in our small bunkhouse which is located at the plant. The rooms are assigned based on gender identity, with up to six employees to a room with bunk beds and a shared bathroom. Bed linens are provided and a communal washer and dryer is available on site.

Alaska Pacific Seafoods charges employees $5.00 per day to stay in the bunkhouse.

Alaska Pacific Seafoods is currently not providing meals to employees.
