Position Overview

STi is seeking an Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Inspector/Maintainer to support U.S. Coast Guard aircraft maintenance services at Air Station Kodiak, Alaska. The station supports aviation operations across one of the most challenging operating environments in the country, including the Gulf of Alaska, Bristol Bay, the Bering Sea, and the North Pacific. The mission requires reliable aviation maintenance professionals who can support aircraft readiness, rescue and survival equipment, Liquid Oxygen (LOX) systems, and mission‑critical Aviation Life Support Equipment.

The ALSE Inspector/Maintainer will perform scheduled and unscheduled inspection, maintenance, overhaul, repair, servicing, function testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and support for USCG aviation rescue and survival equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspection, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and servicing of Aviation Life Support Equipment.
  • Inspect inflatable equipment, survival equipment, survival kits, rescue equipment, protective equipment, and helicopter rescue swimmer equipment at required intervals.
  • Perform inspection, overhaul, repair, servicing, function testing, and troubleshooting of ALSE systems and related aircraft support equipment.
  • Support scheduled and unscheduled Liquid Oxygen (LOX) maintenance, servicing, function testing, troubleshooting, and repair recommendations.
  • Determine whether ALSE or LOX systems are operating properly and identify the type and extent of repair required.
  • Use standard and specialized tools, fixtures, templates, scales, test stands, external power sources, and related equipment of the trade.
  • Read, understand, and apply technical manuals, technical orders, maintenance procedure cards, blueprints, sketches, OEM manuals, and related technical documents.
  • Review technical guides and maintenance documentation to ensure current changes are included and applied correctly.
  • Report technical discrepancies, confusing procedures, errors, or poorly presented information to the appropriate supervisor for resolution.
  • Follow assigned work orders and complete required paperwork and maintenance documentation in accordance with Coast Guard technical guidelines.
  • Conduct research using USCG aviation maintenance data systems such as ATIP, ALMIS, or similar maintenance information systems.
  • Initiate or support requisitions for needed parts, supplies, technical publications, and maintenance resources.
  • Demonstrate or explain proper techniques, methods of operation, and safety practices as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Clean, lubricate, maintain, and properly account for assigned tools and equipment.
  • Transport, store, use, or support handling of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes during maintenance operations.
  • Follow applicable safety, PPE, HAZMAT, environmental, and occupational health procedures.
